Set the default material to these properties:
baseColor : [ 0.5, 0.5, 0.5 ],
specularColor: [ 0.9, 0.9, 0.9 ],
specular : 200,
shine : 1,
reflect : 0,
alpha : 1.0,
emit : 0.7
These are a balance that helps the user get started with a scene in both the presence and absence of lights.
